I really hate Dean in that episode.
I actually think it was understandable because he had a reason to be worried. This was the beginning of Rory realizing she enjoyed having Jess in her life. As much as she hated his actions, and as much as he irritated her—SHE DID NOT FORCE HIM TO LEAVE. Rory knows what she wants, when she wants it. As much as people say she is shy and doesn’t know how to deal with awkward social situations because she is polite, she knows her boundaries. If Rory really wanted Jess gone, she would have made him leave herself, or called/paged someone for help!
In Dean’s perspective, this is where he is starting to realize he is losing her, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. His fears came out all in this episode when he was angry with her—she looks him in the eye and tells him she loves him and only him, and wants to be with him and only him…however the evidence is to the contrary. She lied to his face about her feelings (whether she accepted them yet or not, she KNEW they were there).
His anger is completely understandable. She lied to him repeatedly, but yet he kept giving her second chances and she continued to scare him, and threaten their relationship.
In fact, I don’t think Rory should have dumped him then and there, I think Dean should have dumped her at this moment. As sad and as heartbreaking as that would have been—you should NEVER stay in a relationship where you believe the other person is doing you wrong.
In fact, Rory and Jess’ relationship would have started fairly quickly after that anyways…Rory would have realized she hurt dean—and dean would have realized he was probably pushing her away long before then.
She could’ve called Dean to come over once she realized her alone night was ruined.. But she didn’t. That would bother me too!
